I love to teach painters how to paint with confidence and ease. I demystify the painting process and classic techniques into simple steps so you can grow as an artist without the luxury of a lot of time. In my painting retreats, I take the same approach, breaking down painting cityscapes into easy stages and giving ways to paint the places you visit without standing under the hot for hours at a time.
When it’s too challenging to take the time and space to paint at home or to start something new, this painting retreat can ignite your creative fire. And with art materials included, it’s a great way to test the waters without the costly investment of getting the whole set-up at home. Whether you prefer painting outdoors or in our dedicated studio with AC, the choice is yours.

Guided day trip to the ‘Ancient City’ of Mdina
Wander the sleepy, narrow passages of the cloistered, fortified city of Mdina. The ancient capital citadel of Malta inspires feelings of awe and eeriness in equal measure. Its beautiful, delicately preserved, medieval-like setting is sublimely atmospheric and a visual storyteller’s dream. We will be guided by one of the few residents and have time to breathe it in, and to due preliminary sketches and gather references to paint.

Guided tour of St. John’s Co-Cathedral
We’ll be making a special visit, with our own private guide, to St. John’s Cathedral in Valletta. A short boat (Dghajsa) trip, in the heart of Valletta. Built between 1573 and 1577, this cathedral is home to two masterpieces by Caravaggio and unique marble floors and gilt walls. St John’s Co-Cathedral is a gem of Baroque art and architecture.
This day trip is included in your fee!

Art Materials
Travelling with art supplies is hard, so I’m making it easy with a painting station in the studio, to include
- a table, chair and table easel,
- full set of Winton Oil Paints,
- one colour Acrylic for underpainting,
- solvent and the basics of what you need to paint, water for acrylic, cups for solvent/water, palette paper, a cleaning station for brushes, etc.
Not Included: Sketching kit, canvas boards, brushes/knives, wipes, outdoor easel/kit. If you would like to paint en plein air (outdoors), please bring a kit for this purpose.

Cancellation Policy
If YOU have to cancel: Refunds are not available unless we can rebook your place. Please note that the closer we get to the event, the less likely we will be able to find someone to replace you.
If WE have to cancel: We will refund everything you have paid minus your non-refundable deposit of €750.
Proof of travel insurance to include Covid, which covers your costs including the retreat, is required.

Rooms are from budget to deluxe hotel standard to suits all pockets and vary in size, location and bathroom facilities.
This retreat is requires you to have a moderate level of mobility. Malta is full of steps, indoors and out. There is no getting away from this. The hotel has a lift.
It is your responsibility to make sure you have any necessary documentation to enter the country.
Maximum and Minimum number apply for this retreat. This is worth considering before booking flights.
